Icon6 No compression...

Will a bad valve adjustment cause no compression on one cylinder.

The engine is a Dohc Zc freshly rebuilt and new valve seals were installed. I thinking that my exhaust valves aren't closing all the way...would I still get compression even if they weren't closing all the way?

Also cold start compression test came back #1 had 130, #2 was dead, #3 was 120, and #4 was at 130.

Again this is a freshly rebuilt engine.

then i would do a leak down test rather then a compression test that way you know were its leaking

To actually answer your question, Yes improper valve adjustment could lead to a dead cylinder and even (if you are lucky) bent valves.

no a incorrect valve adjustment would not make a cylinder have no compression at all. more than likely u have a bent valve or a valve isnt seating back in its hole properly

LMFAO are you kidding me? You can improperly adjust the valves two different ways: too much or too little. Too much can open the valve and keep it open when it is on the camshaft's base circle. This would act exactly like a bent valve yeilding no compression results. You should really search better before you give an answer on something you obviously have no clue about and give out wrong answers so willingly.

^Agreed, thats still really low for a rebuilt engine. Did you hold the throttle down while performing the compression test? What kind of compression ratio you running?

^^^^ if he used the corredt feeler gauge for theat cylinder's valve even if he had heavy drag the valve would still close all the way. If he did indeed have it so tight that the valve didnt close it is very possible he bent that valve also. OP loosen the adjuster screws on the valves so that the valves will definately close back then try ur compression test again

So I completed my valve adjustment last night and it has compression on the #2 cylinder...the exhaust valves were not closing.

Now I can break this b*tch in!!!
