95 civic dx- Sputter upon start
Whats up guys. I've got a problem with my 95 dx auto. Ive been having this problem for a while but it has seemed to get more frequent lately.
So this is what it does:
When I first start the car (doesnt seem to matter if the engine is warm or not, but more frequently does it when its cold), it starts good and idles good. But when I go to take off its sputters and doesnt have any power, and doesnt go hardly anywhere. It does this for maybe 5 seconds, then it straightens out, and then it runs great after that. I dont have the problem again until I cut the car off and start it back. It doesnt do it everytime I drive it.
It only seems to do it when i start the car. It doesnt seem to do it after taking off from a stoplight or anything, if it does, its to a much lesser extent.
At first I thought maybe the car had jumped timing, but thats makes no sense because it runs great after the initial hiccup. I thought it was ignition related so I put in correctly gapped NGK plugs, new wires, distributer car and rotor button. With no luck. So now I think maybe its fuel. Im going to change the fuel filter and see what happens. It kinda even seems like its loading up, but its really hard for me to tell anything. If anyone has any help or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
