Very Worried! Help! Knocking coming from motor
alright. so yesterday i went to start up up the car and it just started knocking. i checked the dipstick and no oil reading. ****! so i ran to the store and bought a quart and put it in and it was only touching the bottom of the dipstick(below the low line). i just cruised home and it was still knocking. took it for a full service because it was due and still knocking after being filled with fresh synthetic. so i started thinking dang, my car is done
but then last night after driving the car 3 or 4 times. when i got home...the knocking was gone...revved it a few times. no knocking. then this morning i started it with no knocking but after pulling out of my driveway...knocking was back. drove to work with it knocking the whole way. when i pulled in to work, it was gone. started up my car after work and it knocked but after i drove 200 yrds it was gone...then came back and stayed there all the way home.
Very confused on all this. you would think with all the common reasons for knocking would be constant...but every now and then it goes away.
Someone please help.
2000 acura integra gsr. might add that i've been revving the car to about 8500rpms before all this crap.

Couple other points. The car has not lost performance. read in a few places that with a spun bearin the performance went to crap? but it def still gets up and goes. i was watching vids on youtube and it's def as loud as a spun bearing but it doesn't get that horrible crazy knocking sound when you rev. simply speeds up in time. if that makes sense. when i revved the motor from the engine bay it seemed like it goes away after it hits 3k or so. when the rpm's stop dropping it comes back.
anyone have ideas? i think it's just going to a shop tomrrow because i dont really know what to look for. lol

idea's? well, for starters, if no oil was on the dip stick, i would think that you should have put more than one quart in it. and if its knocking, its probably already too late.
if you have a knock like that its just a matter of time before you throw a rod if its a rod bearing or its a crank bearing i would tell you to do a rebuild and micropolish the cranks then new bearings and rod bearings piston rings and a hone job on the block but if i were you stop driving it now if you can
yeah. well i just turned 18. workin at cici's pizza. so i can't really do a full job on it. haha. i'm going to drive it to school tomrrow and see what my auto teacher says. hopefully it's something in the head. dunno. guess i'll just take it apart and see. thanks for the help anyway guys. it's coming off the the road tomrrow afternoon though.

knock knock. who's there? a loose spark plug. haha. i don't know how it came loose. but today the teacher just said lets take off the valve cover and check it and when it was knocking he put his hand on the cover and was like i can feel something shaking? and he felt the plugs and sure enough the plug in cylinder two was barely screwed in at all. took like 4 revolutions til it tightened. just a lil heads up. if your car knocks, check your spark plugs. haha. thanks ht.
