Default xsi ecu in 2000 civic si

hey...i was told the if you put a pr3 xsi ecu in a civic si it will run faster, due to the more agressive timing and vtec points and higher shifting. its this for real or bs any help would be great thanks

I've have to do research, but generally JDM motors have slightly higher compression, meaning LESS timing. Different VTEC points can actually make it slower, since too low or too high engagement points result in power loss. Read up on VTEC.

Stick to your stock ecu if its a stock motor, and only to a dyno tune on a modded motor. Its not a GM or VW, where the stock maps suck, its a Honda.

true but i was told if you but the timing up 2 degrees it will put it where it needs to be from the loss of timing and you will go alot faster

XSI ecu's are OBD-0.

Where as your stock Si is OBD-2.

Unless you did the OBD-2 to OBD-0 conversion.

I'm pretty sure your car won't run correctly.

ok im gonna give you guys the run down...you can get a pr3 obd1 theyre very rare....heres what i saw with my own eyes...my friends milano red si racing a rsx type s....he had that pr3 ecu in and beat the rsx by two cars and my freinds si only has bolt ons...jdm 4-2..2.5 full exhaust and test pipe ...type r mani..type r throttle body...plasic intake gasket..coolent bypass lines..cold air intake..gsr cams..iriduim spark plugs..and 8 pound fly wheel. i know everything he has cause i helped him install it all....so we race the rsx again this time with a gsr ecu obd1 and he lost super bad...then we put the pr3 back and he won by 2 cars again im just finding it hard to belive so i was just wondering if anyone else it this done???

well i forked out the money and bought it and WOW no bullshit what a difference with the stock exhaust i could feel a extreme difference...it pulls hard the extended red line is great and i fell in love with the car all over again....and also as the one guy mentioned above yes the compression is higher on jdm engines so tomorrow im gonna put the timing gun to it and bump it up 1 to 2 degrees...
