On new gaskets I suggest minimal Honda bond be used.

On the oil pan, make sure that the studs on the block are aligned with the gasket. Sometimes in a rush I've knocked the oil pan gasket inside the oil pan or it popped out some. Minimal hondabond used. Also, do NOT over tighten the 10mm bolts and nuts. If you tighten it too much, it'll push the gasket out or rip it.

Valve cover gasket, clean gasket mating surface with a clean rag, minimal hondabond around cam cap journals and she should be good to go. I do apply a little hondabond to my spark plug tube seals. Also don't forget to replace your shiny silver grommets at the top.

Another thing to consider is your distributor o-ring. They are notorious for leaking and people think it is the VC gasket.

I noticed oil on my oil pan and followed its trail, to the valve cover area. I scrubbed the oil pan, the front of the block, and the area around the header. I checked for leaks daily. I found that the CAM (Plug) Seal was the origin of the leak. This was an easy fix.
