Default Whats the difference between the K20Z3 motor and the K20Z4 motor?

I've been looking all over for the answer on this one. The K20Z3 Vs. K20Z4. They have the same bore and stroke, displacement, and compression. What parts are different on the Z4 that make it faster and have more torque?

VTEC crossover is lower, and I think that it the only difference. It's rated at 1 hp and 3 ft/lbs higher than the Z3. I don't think it is really any faster. You may be thinking of the K20A and mixing numbers up.

The FN2 Civic Type R in Europe comes with the z4 if I'm correct.

Yes K20a is the best (IMO) honda motor out there right now.

K20a is really a good engine...... but why pay so many G's for 20 hp extra...
thats the only diference between CTR K20a and USDM K20z3.....
according to a japanese video at youtube.com
check it out put jdm ctr vs usdm si on the search bar.....

now other question whats the difference between
USDM rsx type-s K20 engine vs. CTR k20a engine.....????

well the differences between the k20a and k20z3 is that the z3 has a balance shaft, drive by wire, and eps (electronic power steering). the z3 has the rbc manifold while the k20a has the rrc manifold. the k20a has more of a domed piston which accounts for its 0.5 higher compression ratio. the cams are different. and obviously the redline is higher on the k20a, thanks to honda for giving us a balance shaft.

Well it seems like the Z3 has a lot of potential, but just doesnt have any EMS that are really worth a f*ck. The ajp turbo is pretty sweet and is the one i'll be lookin into getting. The piggie back systems by greddy dont seem smart enough for the Z3, the systems seem to fight against each other. The A3 has k-pro and hopefully working on a reflash for the Z3.

the greddy e-manage ultimate seems to be sufficient for most people.

The ctr k20a redlines at 8400 or 8500.

Ahh, yet another person comparing "PEAK" horse power, so sad.

didn't realize that he was talking about the type r motor. type r motors have always had higher redlines than the lower motors in civics and integras, balance shafts or not (compare the itr to gsr, older ctr to si, etc).

Most of the time I assume anything regarding k20a_(without numeric suffix) is powering an R much like people referring to the itr as b18c. It does get confusing.

The Greddy systems seems like a little girly man next to the AJP turbo, but thats just my opinion. Its like a hotdog next to a steak.

Also, the manifold appears to be way more sophisticated on the Z4 as well. Though it will be skewed one needs to compare stock power bands from both motors using similar dyno's

is there a k20a in a integra other than the type r? for example, the b18c was the code for both the jdm type r and gsr equivalent (the sir or something like that).

I think so. The integra/rsx has the a3 for the base, and a2 for the type s (02-04).

Its just gonna be a waiting game until k-pro reflashes one for the Z3. Until then the only 2 systems that are out there are the ajp and greddy. it really just boils down to "Time". the Z3 came out much later then the A3 so of coarse their gonna have more out for that engine.

right, but the k20a != k20a3 and k20a2. what i mean is, is there a k20a in japan thats not the k20-r, kinda like the there are 2 versions of the b18c in japan. i know that the fd ctr has a version of the k20a, but are there any non-type-r k20a's out there?

Anyone else know?
