You must run an obd1 or obd2 distributor when using an obd1 engine computer.
Obd0 distributors will not properly function with obd1 engine computers.

You don't have to run the distributor jumper, it just makes things easier. If you are using an OBD1 OEM computer, than yes you need an OBD1 or OBD2 distributor as the trigger wheel count is different from that of the pre-OBD distributor.

Define "doesnt work". You may just have a simple wiring problem.. Which ecu adapter are you using?

1. Check for malfunction indication codes.
2. Resolve all malfunction indication codes.
3. Check for fuel.
4. Check for spark.

Sorry if I am hijacking this thread but I have a question about the OBD1 and OBD0 distributors. What's so different about them? I have swapped the CKP and CYP (cam angle sensor) wires accordingly from OBD0 to OBD1 on a 91 CRX with a D16Y8. The car runs and idles very low. When you drive the car, there's absolutely no power and the RPMS move very very slowly.

Take a look at this pictures....What prevents an OBD0 distributor properly running a VTEC engine with a P30 ECU (this is the computer I am using in the CRX)??

Nothing in that picture. Go count the teeth of the wheel on both distributors and report back.
