the whole wheel sticks out all around evenly or just the top or bottom or sides?

sides would mean toe is out/in
top or bottom would mean camber is pos/neg.
whole wheel out means either the wheel is wider then the others or you have some other suspension issues.

get a wheel alignment and camber kit if needed for starters

The frame may have bent open a bit pushing the control arm out or perhaps the crossmember is bent

The issue you're describing doesn't sound like something that would be fixed by an alignment. An alignment typically corrects the angle of the wheels so that they are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the ground, which can help with uneven tire wear and the vehicle pulling to one side, but it doesn't usually affect how far the wheels stick out from the vehicle.

The issue of one wheel sticking out further than the other could be due to a few different factors:
  • Wheel Offset: The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. If your wheels have different offsets, this could cause one wheel to stick out more than the other.
  • Wheel Spacers: If a wheel spacer was installed on one of the wheels and not the other, this could also cause one wheel to stick out more than the other.
  • Suspension Issues: If there's a problem with your vehicle's suspension, such as a bent control arm or other damaged component, this could potentially cause one wheel to stick out more than the other.
  • Incorrect Installation: If the wheels weren't installed correctly, this could also cause the issue you're seeing.
