Shifter Feels Slushy
Needed an opinion fellas. Just became a new old member again. Long story short. I got me an 88 Hatch and had a d16a6 swap in. Problem I'm having is the shifter feels slushy. Tranny and Engine are perfect. Haven't been able to get under due to the damn thing being SLAMMED!!! Thinking it may be the shift linkage. Personal opinion. Off the top of your heads anyone felt this before? And possible fixes??? (Gears Change perfectly no issues.)
are you using the stock b*tch pin to connect the linkage to the trans or did you use a bolt?
If you used a bolt that is your problem, its allowing a little bit of play which translates to alot at your shifter.
otherwise it could be old worn out shifter bushings try replacing them with the polyurathane energy suspension ones. the shifter kits are pretty cheap

find number 16(your shift linkage) then locate number 1(your shifter itself) now obviously 1 slides in to the u shaped opening 16 has so picture what it looks like underneath your car and go hunting for it(it will be directly under the shifter in your car) now tighten 25 & 29 by turning them in oposite directions! if this doesnt do it try to locate number 17 and tighten 34 to 19, if all that doesnt do it your in need of new bushings!

The motor doesn't even have 1000 miles on it. And I will check into the tightening of the bolts. If not then I will get the bushing kit to see if that makes a difference.
some sh*t happened to my car.
i got new shift bushings.
could be the shifter inself. the bearings on my shifter were all apart and rusty.
and when i put a new one in it had like skateboard bearings and that worked perfect.
check you torque rod first. see if that is well put togather

same thing on my crx. the shift had lots of play on it, so i installed the energy suspension shifter bushings. it helped a little, but even in gear, the shifter feels like it is in neutral. i came to the conclusion that it is because of the tranny. it's an old 90 DA trans, and i had a hard time to get the bitch pin out, so i was banging at it like crazy. i'm hoping once i get a newer trans, it would not have as much play.
