Hey , was wondering if it would be alrite to run a 195/55/15 tire on a 8" wide wheel.
Was thinking of running the dunlop star specs on 949 racing 6ul rims. They don't suggest using a 195/55 on their wheel on the site, they say a 195/50 is cool tho... any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

NO. You should not be mounting 195/55-15 tires or 195/50-15 tires on a 15x8 rim; the rim is too wide for the tire. Most 195/55-15 tires, including the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, are only approved for mounting on rims 5.5-7.0 inches wide. The same thing is true of most 195/50-15 tires, including the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R and RE-11. These tires should not be mounted on 15x8 rims.
If you have 15x8 rims, you'll need to get a wider tire size, like 225/45-15, which is usually approved for rims 7.0-8.5 inches wide. In 225/45-15, you can get the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212 street tire, or Hoosier R compound track tires, i.e. the R6 (road racing) and A6 (autocross).
