Re: (SugaDaddy)
id go 195 at the most. Definately not 215. You might be able to pull 205 if your a daredevil, not sure if thats been done.

most tires for 205 want min 5.5" wide rim. i'm running 205/50/15 on 15" steelies 5.5" wide and its the min, but also there is alot of tire flex too, wish I went with 195/50/15 but i'm upgrading the rims to 7" wide instead.
if you look on the tire manufacturers site, they list min and max rim width needed, and what they recommend.
195 is all i'd go to on 14"

Focus you attentions on getting a better tires compound rather than increasing the diameter of your tires. I would take a better tire compound in 185 over some crappy POS in 215 diameter. So basically focus on what tire you want with the desired level of 'stick' and then worry about size.

I have 205s on my 13s..........not sure why.
If I were you I would just stick with that was is stock, if you do go wider make sure you get the appropriate profile ratio to make sure your speedo/odometer stay accurate.

Pirelli makes the P6 all season and the P6000 all season in the 195/60R14 size. This size is the closest to your 185/60R14 stock size. It is 2.1% bigger or 0.5" bigger diameter than stock. There are much better tires out there than Pirellis. Try the wheel and tire forum for help in your decision.
Cheers.

Re: (SugaDaddy)
When talking about tires there is not always one certain brand that is better than another. For example, comparing Perelli's to Yoko's wont get you very far but comparing specific tires from each manufacturer will be more beneficial.
Perhaps you could list what you are looking to get out of a tire and we could list some specific suggestions. Here is a few things to get you started.
-will these need to be used in snow/icey/frigid cold?
-how long do you expect/want them to last?
-will they see any track time?
-what is your approximate budget?
Hopefully that will get you started.

Oh course I don't mind! I run Sumitomo 200s. They have been descibed as mediocre at best. However they are 13". I run these because I have almost no choice when it comes to summer 13" and they were like $35 a piece. As a student this is a very nice feature. Also I don't race at all so I have no need for a super duper tire. Just something that works somewhat in the rain and warm weather.
It's all about what your needs are and what your budget is.
