I have an 88 honda crx DX. im having problems with my rpms jumping and i have lost a lot of power. rely only noticing it when u floor the gas. Just took IAC valve off and cleaned but still no improvement. new alternator, distributor cap, battery, fuel pump and tank, new master cylinder. could the IAC valve be the cause of this? or can i adjust it to fix the problem. Help please

 

sounds like it could be a timing issue, or your coil pack is going out.

Did you mess with the timing lately?

when did this problem start happening? right after the cap install maybe?

 

plugs? wires? you did cap how was the rotor? could be time for new dist? fuel filter?

 

right after i put cap on it ranfine for about a week then messed up again. new plugs not wires the rotor looked fine. also a new ignition coil i forgot to add. havent messed with the timing

 

try checking your timing, sounds like a ignition issue, try a new rotor as well, normally when you do the cap you do the rotor as well..

 

did water get into the cap by chance?

i would have to agree on the timing and if that doesn't work it might be your icu (idle control unit) i had the same problem with mine

 

thx for the help guys i got new rotor and wires and things seem to be back in line. does anyone know how to reset ure IAC Valve by any chance?

 

kinda sounds like you need a clutch man. if you floor it and lose power then rpms jump and your not going anywhere then you need a clutch haha
