dDo the odometer and tripmeter continue to work fine when the speedometer dies? If so, the speedometer itself is probably bad.

theres a few things, inspect it visually, pull a little bit on the pins going into the connector, if they feel loose or look rusted or the pins on the inside look bent or corroded replace the conncetor. if everything looks good visually, and if you have a voltmeter, you could put ur car up on jack stands, connect the meter to the connector, put the car in gear, and start it off make sure your ground, power and signal are good. your power should match the baterry voltage, ground should be one steady number i dont know exact i think 5v and signal should move up when your wheel turns if its bad just look for the same connector at the junkie make sure it at least looks in good condition cut it off about 4in from the connector then cut yours and splice new one in

i have the same problem the speedo works intermitently and others it just doesn't, but the trip/odometer only works while the speedo is working. when the speedo quits so does the trip/odo.

In this case, the VSS or its circuit is likely the problem.
