b20 vtec where dus vtec suppost to kick in?

Default b20 vtec where dus vtec suppost to kick in?

i have a b20 vtec on my 98 ek coupe with a chipped ecu, but da problem is dat i cannot hear or feel da vtec when it kicks in. idk if its normal or if sumthing is wrong. before it had da stock 1998 civic ex d16 single cam ecu, da vtec kicked in between 4 and 5. i didnt hear it alot but i felt it a little. but now dat my ecu was chipped into a b20 vtec i cannot even hear or feel it da guy told me it was gonna kick in at 5 or 6. but idk if dis is normal can someone help me?

dat don sound rite fool. vtec aint kikin in ma dude.

lol if it kicked in before but not now its the ECU. maybe the dude lied to you. does it seem slower. are you sure it doesnt kick in sooner just quiter and more efficient that you dont notice it?

yeah da check engine light is on but it was even on before a got da ecu chipped

If it is set where it should be you shouldn't really feel it much at all. You can read up on this basically the way you find it is by dynoing your car with vtec disabled and then graphing it with vtec engaging really low. Wherever the two graphs intersect is where the vtec should engage. If you get what i am saying basically this means in a perfect situation you won't feel it at all but your power band will be much longer. On my car i can feel it a little cause it should be dynoed, but the main way i can tell if it is working is by the sound. But in your case with a cel on it is more likely that it isn't engaging, you know how your engine should feel.
