b20 vtec, now no vtec
well we got a b20 vtec wrapped up in a 99 si only problem is it keeps throwing a lean fuel mixture code (understandable) and vtec will not engage.
what does everyone use for an ecu after doing a b20 vtec? anyone run into this problem. and is the lean condition keeping vtec from engaging.
i told him to get a afpr and bump up his fuel pressure and let the ecu figure out the difference in air flow in closed loop.

Re: b20 vtec, now no vtec (turbo_smallblockchevy)
your problem is you haven't tuned the car. get a fpr and get some tuning done. i wouldn't run a b20vtec on a standard ecu.

Convert to OBD1 and use a custom programmed ECU - Hondata, Uberdata, etc. This will allow for less headaches and let you to fine tune the motor for optimal performance.

I just tuned my friends 99 Si w/ B20 VTEC 2 weeks ago It runs HARD
Get a socketed P28 and I can send you the map I made for him for a price.
Pm me if interrested I can give you more info on his setup and go from there.

i suspected that it would need tuning. they insisted it didn't but leave it to the toyota guy lol.
would some increased fuel pressure and perhaps a p72 ecu suffice until he can get some tuning done?

Re: (turbo_smallblockchevy)
no, convert to obd1 and get either hondata, uberdata or chrome. i suggest Hondata, you need some tuning or your car will run
i am in this process with my '00 si so i know. obd1 and get a p28. and i suggest tuning on the dyno right away or at least get a basemap until you can tune.
