Default dc5 engine trouble.

Just wondering has anyone had any similar problems, have a dc5 itr. First thing that I noticed was that it had trouble starting used to spark first time but started to do a "tut tut tut" before it started put it down to maybe needing a new battery cause I checked the starting motor, spark plugs and ignition coils which were all fine but unfortunately that wasn't the end of it,
Next I noticed that whenever in 3rd gear round 3000 revs when I put the throttle down it would take a second before it kicked off almost like turbo lag but obviously not anyway was driving around and it kept getting worse now the car just lags and chuds its way along with a lack of power and then eventually stops and the electricity cuts and then its really hard to start again, dunno bringing it to my mechanics tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of what might be the cause.

Love hondas this is my first one and I've always heard their bulletproof and v reliable so I'm quite brokenhearted.

Thanks!

your power completely dies? if so, it could be a bad alternator if you get no power whatsoever.

Yea, it jus might be the alternator. When I sold My 02 type s to a co-worker. prob 2 months down the road the car dint turn over one night after he got done @ the bar. Checked battery and everything and it turned out to be the alternator. But I dont know why but when I owned it I baby'd and took such good care of the car, kept it spotless and never gave me problems. But after selling.....wel it just hurts me to see it everyday @ work the condition its in.....sniff sniff....=(

I hope its just the alternator anyways, The car starts and then after a min or 2 the revs drop below 1000 and the car splutters and then powers off. Would the alternator have anything to do with the loss of power when the car was running? One of the first signs something was wrong was loss of power at 3000 rpm in 3rd gear. Thanks for your help, greatly appreciated.
