Edge Racing?
So I've always bought my tires from edgeracing.com and I tried to go to the site today but with no luck. Did they close down the site? Sorry I tried to search but didn't find anything. If they did what are some other cheap tire sites? I'm looking to buy some Falken Ziex ZE912's in 205/50/15. Thanks.
I don't know what's going on with Edge Racing, but lately I've found that Discount Tire Direct seems to be beating all the other sites on price, after you take into account their free shipping vs the $15/tire or so other sites charge. (DTD also has a "will not be undersold" policy but if they beat other sites already, then who cares about that, right?)

I don't know why, but I can't seem to get my local DTD to price match online competitors. It's not that they won't, they just tell me that if I take shipping into consideration as well as the cost to mount/balance the tires, it turns out to be the same price as what they already offering the same tire for. Am I doing something wrong here?
However, Discount Tire very often does match prices, but it's up to the individual store. Your local store is correct that the cost of mounting and balancing needs to be taken into account. It typically costs $10-25 per tire for mounting and balancing, but many tire stores offer that for free when you buy the tires there. It's fair for them to charge $10-25 more per tire than the internet folks if they are throwing in mounting and balancing for free.
If they still are a lot more expensive even after taking mounting/balancing into account, you can always buy the tires over the internet from Discount Tire Direct, and then have them mounted and balanced anywhere you want - including Discount Tire, as well as Wal-Mart, or an independent mechanic, or anywhere else.
One other cost you may have when buying locally is sales tax, which local retailers usually charge, and internet sellers usually don't charge. However, they don't usually include this in any price matching, so you may still be stuck paying that extra 3-10 percent of sales tax when buying locally.
In fact, I can't even get on their site now and it doesn't come up on Google. I suppose Edge is done for.
Anyway, my technique is to buy tires online and then conveniently have my buddy at the dealership install them for me. That used to be free, but the dealer doesn't allow personal jobs anymore, so now it costs me like $30. Even so, I saved quit a bit of money that way with my winter tires than I would have by buying and installing them elsewhere. Even including shipping I probably saved $50 on the deal.
If you know somebody at a dealer or shop that can install them for you for cheap or even free I suggest buying straight offline.
If you're looking for an inexpensive place to get tires purchased elsewhere mounted and balanced, Wal-Mart's tire department does a pretty good job for a very reasonable price (around $10/tire) and doesn't mind the fact that you bought them elsewhere.

First of all, Discount Tire is the retail division of the company, and Discount Tire Direct is the mail order division. So your local store is Discount Tire, not Discount Tire Direct.
