1991 b18c1 Integra Max Hp?
Im trying to build my 1991 integra, when I bought the car it had a b18c1 gsr block and a b18a1 head, Thats the way it still is. Whats the best way to get a big Hp gain without a turbo.. Any Ideas?
Well for the start you'll have to get rid of the b18a1 head and get a b18c or any b16 head. You'll get more more hp.
Why would any body put together a motor like that? Ls head on a Gsr block!

Don't get a B16 head unless you plan on either changing the pistons or going turbo, you'll have lower compression than a stock gsr.
I'm guessing that motor is like that cuz the previous owner built an LS/VTEC and threw that crap together hoping someone would buy the DA.
For now you should be focused on finding a GSR head and a better tranny (b16 or b17) that will probably get you 40 hp along with better gearing. Plus I would be carefully inspecting the work that was done by the previous owner.

just the final?
Im ordering some pop top pistons for the gsr block.. it claims 12:1 comp/ratio with the vtech head so im guessing that the dome pistons will give me about 11:1 comp/ratio with a b18a1 head, The type R teg has something like 11:1, So by doing pop top pistons, do you thank ill gain some good hp?
I forget the gearing differences there are gear charts floating around on the interweb. Both are good trannies, but the b17 ys1 was never available with LSD like the jdm b16's.
IMO the best cable tranny is the 92-93 Xsi YS1 with LSD if you can find one. You get lsd plus the bigger input shaft and many shared characteristics of all 92-01 b series trannies.

Run a compression and leakdown test to assess the relative health of the engine. Why did the original owner swap the VTEC head? You could have a true frankenmotor. How do you know that the bottom end internals are from a stock B18C1?
im not one to judge a book by its cover but im guessing that your kinda new wrenching on Hondas
if you want my opinion, look for a gsr head, and a cable b16 or b17 tranny (dont get your hopes up in finding an lsd one for cheap either) throw on a header, exhaust, intake and other little stuff and see if you like driving it like that, most people do and theres no need to have to tear down the entire block to put in some pistons that you probably coulda done without.

The block is stamped with b18c1, that all im going off of. And the original owner is a dumbA$$, I cant find a dohc v-tec anywhere!!

Good luck with that normally aspirated. 200 whp is a typical goal for normally aspirated.
Regarding the block stamp, that just means the block was from a B18C1. WHo knows what the previous owner did. He could have swapped the pistons, rods, and crank. You do not know until you look. Sorry.
go to JG Engine Dynamics website and just buy their all motor long block for $4700.00. A1 block and GSR head i think is what they use, anyways they say 260hp+. Theres your long block. Then buy a B16 tranny and then find else what else you need and go from there. I mean no disrespect but you got some learning to do before reachin that amount of power all motor with your setup and no knowledge of what to do. Everyone can point in the way to get started but thats as far as it goes. Best to buy on already there and button it up
