Well here's the story, i needed to get my 98 front end painted as long as my 98 rear bumper for my Integra. One of my buddy was doing the work for me"not for free". So we went to Kc autopaint and had them match my car color. On my driverside it says color code R-81. Which is Milano Red for my understanding. So the dude was like i cant match that. I need more information. So i gave him the my last 4 digits of my cousins car which is original Milano red since mine was orignial black. So he matched it and everything with whatever technical stuff he was using "he" (the dude working at kc). so it looked like it matched in all. So i bought the quart of paint and when my buddy got done painting it you can tell that there is a big difference. The front end was brighter then the rest of the car. Looking at a distance you can tell it is two different colors. So i look at the can of paint and it says Cardinal Red. So now im stuck with my car with two different reds and it sucks ***...just thought i complain about it since people said that KC was one of the best around town. Maybe i should of looked at the name on the paint of quart first but cant do nothing now...it looked like it matched up good but dont know how it turned out this way...my buddy that painted it said he put hella coats on there but didnt seem to work....but yeah just wanted to let everyone know how shitty it is.ahaha i'd post pictures if i can get the correct code on here to let me post pics....but yeah thanks for reading...any inputs would be good.
hahah pretty funny actually. If you knew what you were doing the first thing I would have done would be to check the paint color by dabbing a little bit on a painted surface of the car and see how it dries in comparison to the old paint. Then I would have looked at the color code and color name. Leave painting to ppl who know what there doing if your going to complain

1psi can change a color. You should have sprayed a test card/panel at different psi's (at the gun) and recorded your info. Gun settings are huge. On top of that, the paint your matching is 9 or more years old. (most likely)
your gettin way to technical with this. its simple as your car is milano red and you painted the bumpers cardinal red. ive painted plenty of bumpers with the same color code as the car and sometimes they dont match unless you blend it. if your car is 10 years old alot of the time fresh paint doesnt match.
If the KC paint guy had enough experience under his belt he could have mixed it to match the old faded paint no problem. With these sort of things I find that the oldest geezer in the shop will do the best work. Experience goes a long way.

actually my paint job on my car is still pretty new...i was in an accident awhile back and just never got to fixing it....but overall it just didnt turn out as what i was thinking it would....and yea it is simple stating that the guy gave me cardinal red instead of milano red after indicating i wanted milano...but oh well lesson learned...

he would have to scuff the clear coat off again...which i dont want to use anymore money at the moment...we had to buy paint two different times because the first quart ran out..second time mixing it was a lady and im not sure if she mixed it right...so questions lead to more questions

Hey buddy if your friend had blended to the adjacent panel then you wouldn't had notice the difference in color. Even if the color is little off, blending will hide the difference in color.
Bumper color will always be off from the body of vehicle.

you cant give info off another car man. the reason they wanted to know was to match the paint to your car. the vin # tells when and where your car was painted so they can match it to a batch number of paint used at the factory. thats not their fault you gave wrong info. plus you should have blended everything to make it match

wow..............theres a **** load of plants that paint oem hondas an the 11th digit of your vin refers to your color an where it was painted. You cant give them a vin off another car an expect it to match it doesnt work that way. next time try an roll it on an it might look better with your eyes closed. amateurs hahaha sorrry

its a solid red w no metalics or pearls, why in the hell would there be a tri-coat formula for it. people an their theories make me laugh. haha if you work for ppg you should be fired.
edit: I just looked up milano red and it does call for the undercoat.
