help, bogging or stumbling issue,,coil or igniter?
whenever I take off, it runs like the timing is retarded, then it kinda kicks like ac turning off and takes off. doesn't matter about rpm, does it about every time I step on the gas. its not the tps, its new. any ideas? maybe the coil or igniter is having issues? no check engine light or codes.
Have you checked the fuel pressure and the feed...
Possibly the regulator...
I have not seen an igniter or coil cause this. They usually just die on you all
together.
Good luck though.

What was the last maintenance that you performed on your car? What year/model is it?
It sounds like something with your fuel system, i.e. fuel injectors or fuel filter clogged. Or really old fouled spark plugs. But first make sure your timing is correct.
Also check to see if you have a leak in your intake manifold. This is the least likely problem but still possible.

ok heres the details. 90 civic wagon, 94 d16z6 motor, 94 intake, injectors, press regulator, everything 94 except distributor, so I have the 93 dx dist. p28 computer all the 94 stuff has about 10,000 miles on it. bought a complete wrecked car. been running with pm6 computer just recently got wiring harness adapter to run the p28. didn't have alot of power with the pm6, but got worse with the p28. not much bottom end power. my 90 4dr ex will walk all over this car Bad. the fule pump in the car has 100,000 miles. gonna change that out with the low mileage one in the next day or two. any other ideas? thanks
yep i am having the same problem with my car.......different motor but still same problem. its really annoying toO... i was told same stufF havent found out yet.
I had this problem also with 2 cars. Both times it's been the 02 sensor. Took me forever to figure out and it was so annoying. It wasn't disconnected or bad but one of the wires was loose so I would never get a CEL. It would usually happen when I hit a bump or took a corner hard, just enough to loosen a wire momentarily. Is that when it happens to you? Like you said it felt like the timing was being retarded and then would come back on with a surge. It's a bitch too because it would never do it when it was just sitting there idling so even if you did test the 02 sensor it would appear fine. It could be other things too though. Check the cap and rotor and maybe the fuel filter and check the resistance on your plug wires, should be less than 25,000 ohms. Start off with the simple stuff. Hope that helps.
My car is OBDII so it was the front 02 sensor. The wires are known for coming loose from the connector on the 02 sensor. Disconnect it and pull the wire into the connector all the way so it makes a good connection.

Well I gotta bring up an old post again.
I changed my car back over to the pm6 and it was running perfect. got my turbo on, it was pulling hard. decided to swap the p28 back in, and I got a vtec dist hoping that was the problem. still have the problem. the o2 sensor is brand new(its a 93 acura ls one, would that make a diff?) if you unplug the o2, the check engine light comes on and the hesitation goes away. only other thing I can think could be wrong is maybe something with the throttle body, or my conversion harness, although I've been thru that inch by inch making sure it was correct.
the ls o2 works perfect with the pm6, the car runs absolutely perfect on the pm6. what could it be? i've tried two other 94 computers and it does the same thing with them, I think i'm gonna try a 93 ls computer next. help! I want turbo and vtec both!
