axle poped out while driving
i just got done replacing my axle and everything was giong fine until i hit a large amount of large pot holes and all of a sudden the car lost all its power and stalled out , i later found out it was because the axle i just replaced came out of the tranny a little bit , im thinking it had something to do with my allignment since ive been messing with it so much maybe i made the entire geometry of the car out further maybe i just didnt snap the axle in im afraid of this happening again can any one relate to this incident?
the clip comes on the axle i took everything apart(or tryed to atleast) and the axle has tons of play and then it grabs inside the tranny and i cant get it out so im assuming thats the snap ring in action chisel and 5 lb hammer didnt get it out ,
when i put it in gear the tranny starts to stall the car out all the gears are reasonabley smooth to shift in and out of but when i let off the clutch it stalls out even if i try to keep it going by giving it gas. im thinking the trannys siezed up

Hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but what clip are you talking about? I never saw any clips when I installed my axles into my swaps. I haven't had any issues so far, but your mentioning of these clips makes me doubt myself. Tell me, tell me, please.
the input shaft on the axel, the one that goes into the tranny, will have a small round looks like a split washer but round, clip and its in a groove. you just push the axel in to the tranny till you here a click. you can go check on your car by prying in between the axel and tranny and if it doesnt slid out at all your good.
As for the OP, my car was so bad out of alighnment that my brand new axel poped out.
but i am not sure on why your car is stalling out, doesnt sound like your clutch but if you put your axel back in and that doesnt solve it then when you pull your tranny you will check the clutch. alighn your car first, thats square one.

Thanks for the pic of the clip ^^
Another newbie dumb question, but if that ring is suppose to keep the axle from coming out, how do you remove it when you actually want to replace new axle? or will it just yield to brute force?

True that! a pry bar works well also but if you arn't under a lift it can be a little difficult.. sounds like you might end up having more problems than the axle.. im not too sure but maybe try draining your transmission fluid and catch with a paint strainer check for any metal parts.. or if its really bad youll know with big parts...
Two flat heads or two small pry bars always work the best for me. If you only use one it requires a lot more force than using two about 45 degrees apart (due to space limitations) just pry at the same time and that pops that bugger right out. The hard part is getting it back in.
