ecu catching fire because of bad vtec wireing?
k i have an 93 eg hatch cx with a usdm p28 ecu and a jdm d15b vtec. so heres the deal my friend wired my ecu for vtec when i dropped the motor and every thing was fine there were no cel's and it cracked vtec well so yea one day one the freeway i smashed on the throttle in 3rd then i smell this burning lik wires caught on fire right so i cruise all the way home fine and the next day i pop open my ecu and theres a scorch on the cover and a couple components where fried i was pizzeled so yea im wondering if the gauge wire that my friend used for the vtec was too large or what could have caused this?
thnks in advanced.

im not sure but the components that where dameged where all in one area. the area closest to where u plug the wires the A plug to be more spacific i hope that helps?...
lol misspelling. sorry about that n yea vtec still works but ill get random cel's some times that clear when i turn the car off and ill try to get some pics up asap.

so ive seen a transistors go a couple of times due to bad (i wanna say its the vtec solenoid wire) wiring make sure that you read the diagram for the connectors right and not backwards some of those wires are hot and if they carry current to the wrong pin youll blow something even then i havent seen a whole section of components go try to look at what burned or post that image
just for reference the transistor looks like a little black box that has three pins coming out and soldered to the board, if it went it would have gone out with a lot of smoke so it could have singed a few other things close to it plus it should be cracked if its no good the reference part is R128 i believe

alright so the one closest to the plugs is deff cuz you got the pressure in the wrong pin i think you read the plug backwards (it should be in a whole in the middle of the three columns with no where to plug in above or below... i think you got it on the wrong side) the second one i have no idea i havent seen that before you might want to check your grounds and that they are connected
o and when you said the two on top i think its just the transistor cuz the capacitor would have mushroomed i think it just got scorched

k well that was kinda confusing but heres something i forgot to mention about the vtec ground, its conected to the batterys terminal ground :/ maybe thats has something to do with it and were u saying that the vtec was conected backwards? but wouldnt that dissable my vtec?
alright so the right most burned thing is caused by vtec oil pressure being pinned wrong on the ecu plug i can almost guarantee it the other one that left a bigger scorch mark i dont kno what it would be but it might have something to do with the ground make sure its making good contact and that the other wires arent accidentally grounded along with it
k imma rewire the vtec now that i know how to do it my self and correctly lol and ill check out the grounds as well befor getting a new ecu. thanks alot man and if anybodys reading this thread and wants to add something or watever please do cuz i dont want this happening again. lol
