possible to run vtec on a non vtec ecu, temporarily ?
Hi I have a quick q,
i'm going to be putting in my jdm d15b vtec soon,
now I want to do this asap
but I might have to wait for ebay shipping for whatever ecu I get (p28 or p08)
and i gotta find one at a good price first also.
so what I want/need to know is, can I run my stock CX ecu,
with the d15b installed, and vtec already wired up.
I'm sure it wouldnt run very WELL,
but would it damage anything? or even work at all??
thanks
I have a 92 cx 5spd.

ok well I just want it to RUN like drive! without frying any wiring.. or fuses or anything like that.. things not plugging in right
for a like a week or so until the correct ecu arrives.
not having vtec is no biggie.
and assuming I did this,
i'd just have to remove the old ecu and plug in the new one when it arrives?
i know all these questions some .. well... simple minded..
but I dont feel like leaving anything out.
thanks again!

hey.. haha, its always seems like we're in the same post...
but, you can start the motor with a different ecu... i had a p06(dx) mated to the jdm d15b, just to start. i didn't however drive it at all around the block. i'm just worried about ANYthing that can happen...
if you need a p28, there are plenty of people in the bay area who only want $100. let me know if you need anything

thanks,
jdmsiR20 to the rescue again!
I think you're right, i'll probly try and find a local one.
100bux is my cutoff though, i want to try and get one cheaper..
I mean.. its an ECU, there arent really "bad condition" and "good condition" ecu's out there are there?

well there are some that unchippable due to previous incidents with people trying to chip them.... doesn't matter if you're not going to chip it though
