Need HELP! How to disconnect the shifter link to tranny
I am in the middle of removing my d16y8 out of a 1999 civic ex manual tranny.
I am trying to remove the small cylinder pin that locks the shifter link bar to the tranny.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to remove the pin?? it wont come out

you need a sledge hammer and a 1/4 punch, slide the dust boot forward, remove the C clip and use hammer and punch to hammer the spring pin out...........4 steady taps should do it.
there was no c-clip when i pulled the shifter boot back. All i saw was a hole straightthrough. i there is a cylinder pin, used a small screw driver and punched it with a hammer, still didnt go out. im bumbed.... maybe ill just keep at it with different tools.
Additional advice from anyone would be nice!

you need to use a punch, from my experience a screwdrivder never get it done, a 1/4" punch about 4 direct hits will get it out, I've done this so many times, I just did it on 2 different hondas a day before you posted.
