Whats the best way to remove the shifter linkage spring pin(split pin)?????????
Trying to remove my engine and am in the process of removing the shifter linkage from the transmission. I am trying to remove the spring pin with a punch and hammer. Hitting it doesnt seem to move it, and am worried if I hit it too hard it will damage the tranny. What should I do?
Would heating it, with a small propane torch help?
Is the enter and exit point for the pin one way or it doesnt matter?
Also, is drilling it out a posibillity?

The punch should not be tapered, and a little smaller than the pin. Hammer that sucker out. I think it's easiest to use the side of the hammer when you are under the car laying on your back.

An old trick is to use the catalytic converter bolts(the one with the springs). It is a straight shot in with a hammer.

Disconnect the linkage at the shifter and pull the engine with the linkage still attached to the tranny. Then if you still need to remove it, do so once the engine is pulled, much easier.
