Default d16z6 leaning out BAD now, what happened?

z6 greddy 5psi kit, stock injectors, emanage-blue. all stock except cometic gasket and arp studs, and 2 1/2 exhaust.
Never had a problem, A/F always showed optimal... dropping into rich, all the way to redline.

Then I bought a timing light and saw that the guy who had this car before me advanced his timing, like 2-3 inches advanced (not sure how many degrees that is.)
figured that was dangerous so...
Jumped ECU, set it to 0 degrees, and drove to work for a couple days.
low end seemed better spooling, but high end seemed weaker. thats to be expected right?

BUT NOW! when just gettign up to speed on the freeway, at about 6500rpm in 3rd gear my A/F guage will just drop all the way to LEAN, and it never did that before! reset battery, ECU, etc. change fuel filter, still same LEAN issue. I hear pinging on hills I never did before. still running 93 octane.

what 1 thing should I do (cant afford more till next month)? upgrade to walbro 255? upgrade to 310 injectors? change timing back to advanced? how far advanced was that?

Help!

Try advancing your timing a tad bit see if that helps

I will advance it a bit and see.
Maybe I'll use a bit of money and get the emanage usb cable and finally hook it up to my laptop to see if it can tell me anything.

You're using one of those cheapy AF gauges from autometer connected to your stock O2 output aren't you...

yes cheap A/F to the oxygen sensor,
I know, I know, don't hate, hey at least it alerted me to the problem.

No it didn't. You've had a problem the entire time. Get the real equipment before messing with crap, those narrow band gauges are useless.

I'll continue to hate, they are useless and they aren't alerting you to anything as you have no idea how lean and or rich the car really is.

How about you set it to 14-16* at idle with the service connector jumped (how its supposed to be set from the factory), then see how it works. The wideband gauges never really help for turbo apps, especially if you use a ground other than the o2 sensor's signal ground wire. Look up voltage offsets - a bad gauge ground could easily display an o2 reding of 14.7 into >16. They are as useless as octane boosters.

What the hell are you doing setting your timing to 0? If you don't know how to use a timing gun then you shouldn't be messing with.. This is where your "problem" began..
