Default turbo - now smoking

Hey guys, did some research, and couldn't find a thread with a similar situation.

Running a turbo h22a4 - mid boosting for about 6 months ~14psi.

Fully built head/block (forged pistons/rods) - bout 3k on the motor.

When I first had her running, there was always a little oil burnup while she was warming. After the engine was up to temp, the smoking stopped. It was a little worse in colder temps

Anyway, after running her the other night, she didn't sound quite right. Came to the garage and smoke everywhere. It doesn't smell like coolant and the overflow is normal. It must be oil. Checked the plugs, have #3 and 4 are fouled with oil in the cylinder. She isn't misfiring, it just sounds like all the cylinders aren't firing.

The charge pipes are clean, so I ruled out the turbo seals.

I need to get the tools to do a leakdown. Is this valve seals or piston rings? I am going against rings, being these are forged and this motor has been run far harder. Can valve seals just go?

Anyways, I'd appreciate input and reassurance that I am in the right direction. I'll keep you updated when I get the leakdown results.

do a compresion test, record your numbers, then add a capfull of oil to the cylinders. If the numbers go up then its your rings.

yea i would check the valve seals and the rings like you said. do you compression and leakdown and go from there. good luck with finding your problem!

So while I'm hand-cranking the engine, cylinder #4 shoots out a blast of coolant. Didn't even bother with the numbers. Goodbye head gasket. Time to take the head off. End of story.
