Icon3 Blowing blue smoke.

Sup guys,

Currently, I am just looking on a second opinion on this.

My car is a 99 Civic Si with a b16a in it. The mods I currently have are -I/H/E. Also, my car has A CEL for the 02 sensor, and is blowing blue smoke, only in high RPM's. (5 1/2k +)

Now, I was thinking this could be related to the after market exhaust I have in the car, and/or to the fact that the O2 sensor in it is bad, and could be putting more fuel into the car. Anyone else have any suggestions to what may also cause this?

Very possible. I am leaking from the vtec cylinoid, or possibly the valve cover.

Hmmm.... Would it be because of those leaks? Or would it have to do with a more internal leak?

could be the piston rings are bad. not sure about the details of how well your engine was taken care of, but that could be it.

Hmm, I hope not. Couldn't it be the valve seals also?

yea its either the piston rings or possibly valve stem seals. run a compression test and a cylinder leakdown test on each cylinder to locate the problem cylinder or cylinders. if you discover a cylinder that is low while doing the compression test, drop some oil down through the spark plug hole and retest. if the numbers bump up significantly then most likely its the rings that are bad. if they remain mostly unchanged then look elsewhere for the leakage. such as timing and/or valve adjustment.

D16SiHatch gave some excellent advice. Adding oil to help seal up the rings is a great trouble shooting technique.
