I remembered someone said you can use mild soap to clean it.

A few things you can do.

1. Clean with Dish detergent and reoil with a light amount of motor oil
2. Use a K&N Cleaner kit (Only difference from Unis Kit is that K&N adds a red dye to the oil.)
3. Go to any Motorcycle shop that sells UNI Filters and get a cleaning/Reoiling kit from them.
4. Get Comptechs Kit (UNI Kit rebadged.)

i found best cleaning results with comptech foam cleaner.. tried some other from bike shop.. didn't clean as well.. so i'd stick with comptech uni stuff

for re-oil.. either comptech, if other brand, make sure it says for foam filters.. i wouldn't use k&n (not saying that you can not)

cleaning.. i do like it says in their directions... spray it all around with cleaner.. let it sit for few minites.. then rinse it down... if needed.. repeat the process... to speed up the drying process, you can shake the water - wait for few days to dry up... re-spray so its covered all around, if not enough coats of oil, it will dry up quick... and could deform the filter.. too much oil is also not good

if you only got one fitler, i suggest to buy a second one, so you have no downtime... and check/replace them every 1500-2000 miles

Yes it is, The guys at comptech actually mentioned it to me for anyone who can't find a UNI Cleaning kit.

Easiest is still option 1
