Default Low Oil Pressure

I have a 96 acura integra, with a freshly built 94 b16 block, and a 91 b16 head. i started it up for the first time the other day and my oil pressure light wasnt going off, and i was hearing a knocking/grinding noise coming from the timing belt side of the engine. possibly oil pump? So i took the oil feed line from the turbo off to see if any oil was coming out, and it was barely dripping. The oil pump is a brand new type r oil pump, i dont see how something could be wrong with it. Any suggestions? Help is much appreciated.

Did you prime it before you started it? I usually disconnect the 3 strut tower plugs on the passenger side and crank it 4 or 5 times in 10 second or so bursts. This ensures everything is well lubricated without combustion occurring.

Did you do something similar to this? (priming)
Is the Type R pump an OEM unit or aftermarket?
What type of sealer did you use around the oil pump?

If you used silicone and put on a generous amount, a glob may have become lodged somewhere in the pump, causing it to starve... anything is possible. The more details you can provide the better.

yes i did prime it before i started it, and i used honda bond as a sealant.
the oil pump was a brand new oem from the honda dealership that i work at. i was told that a type r oil pump will work with that block, is there a possibility that it wouldnt? i guess my next step is takin the oil pump off? What kind of other details do u need? lol

why is it that every online forum i get on people have to b jerks, rather than offer advice. i thought forums were for getting online and not be ashamed of makin an idiot of yourself while asking a question. well why dont u tell me whats wrong with it, then u can call me a "noob"! i dont think that an actual honda mechanic (like myself) would be considered a "noob"!

The Type R unit you have used is absolutely OK on that block. B series man, it all goes together.

As far as being called a noob, don't worry about that. What goes around comes around. He'll get his, just like anyone else like that deserves. There are plenty of other people on this site willing to provide constructive advice.

Back to your issue, do you have an update for us? Did you follow up with Golden Eagle?

WAIT! Did you remember to install the oil restriction bung in the top of the block. If not, this could very well be the cause of your problem.
