d series questions! need helps plz
ok i have an 04 civic 4 door im gonna swap to a manual ive already got pretty much everything i need. yes i know its a waste of time but i dont care i like the car im gonna do it. so i have a few questions about my computer i know i wont be able to use the stock auto ecu so will i be able to use pretty much any d series ecu (manual of course) and will i have to pin (move wires) in the plug that attaches to the ecu.
i hear from a very knowledgeable friend i will have to and that its cake with the right diagrams. but i just wanted to get a second outlook on my situation with the d series ecu.
oh and i know ur going to say its not worth it but still help would be nice thanks.

you will most likely need a 5spd ecu from 01-05 (i would get one from 04-05 jus to be safe) the more factory correct you make the 5spd swap the better. you will also need the 5spd harness. i have a 5spd harness uncut, un touched for $50 shipped ready to go right now. email me TATTOODUP12@COMCAST.NET
would the use of a new harness void the whole repinning the ecu? also i would like to know if its at all possible to use the automatic axles or will i also have to fork out for those too?
more than likely you will need new axles as well. i dont believe you can repin theharness/ecu you have now i think the only option is to switch engine harnesses. like i said, i got you covered with the harness but thatsa all the parts i have laying around for D17
While we are on the subject of swaps....
I have the DX (VP) 2 dr EM2.
There isn't a vtec motor obviously, but I can't find the actual code for the ex Vtec motor.
What is it, and could turning it from plain to vtec be possible without a whole motor swap?

the engine code for the ex is d17a2.....dx..lx is d17a1....
If you want v-tec you can swap to an a2 head. with the v-tec solinod. That is the only way if you have an a1....

and a question on that the vtech head from the a2 will fit directly on the a1 but what else would be needed? im guessing maybe a reflash of the ecu or something within that general area to let the ecu know you have vtech? am i in the ballpark or just the parkin lot? lol

There's a guy on 7thgen selling an EX ECU for $50 since he just went to Kpro. That, combined with the harness Homeless is selling will make the swap pretty much painless.
