Default Mods for a 07 civic ex

I have an 07 ex sedan with an AEM cai, a weapon r header, and a skunk2 catback exhaust system. I have plans for getting a turbo. are there any other mods i can do to my civic to increase the preformance? I am kind of new with engine mods and don't know all that much. I am just looking for ideas for things that i can do to my car. Any input is appreciated!

Can I ask you a few questions without you taking it personal or taking it the wrong way?

What do you do to earn money?
Is this vehicle your bread and butter daily driver?
How fast do you want to go?
Why are you wasting money on NA parts when saving this money will bring you closer to the turbo sooner?

Below is directed to anyone with an R18 civic and no one in particular.

In my personal opinion, which I am entitled to, I see a lot of people wasting their cash buying pricey parts for a platform with results that are marginal at best. I see a lot of people modding their vehicles that they rely on to get the from point a to point b, many of these people need their car to get to school and or work and if it broke down in a way that warranty wouldn't cover it they would be so strapped for cash they would have to lean on family or miss payments and insurance or worse yet lose their job and it get repo'd.

In the end it's your money and you will do what you want with it. But If I was in your shoes I'd do intake, exhaust, some respectable wheel and tire combo, minor suspension and a sub woofer and put my money toward a project worthy of the cash, that will yield exceptional gains and pay my car note off. No sense in wasting cash, depreciating your vehicle further, and jeopardizing your daily transportation.

Something I want to add is that many R18 owners are on a tight budget already because let's face it, unless you have a stubborn significant other who refuses to learn to drive stick or your car loan is cosigned by parents you would have gladly climbed into an Si.

There will be some who argue the fuel economy point and my rebuttal is that this is the wrong hobby to be worried about fuel economy and people who are really trying to save money on gas are far from trying to go fast.

Additionally, going fast WILL NEVER be cheap, this is a HOBBY and parts aren't free. IF that doesn;t set right with you-you picked the wrong hobby.

I am a construction manager and this is not my only car. I also have an escalade that I drive in the winter. I have new rims and tires on it. I have the money for anything. I was just wanting some ideas to make my car a bit better. I already have the turbo kit coming. My car is fully paid for and so is the turbo kit. I do this as a hobby. I have a bet going with my cousin who has a BMW m3. I need to beat him in a 1/4 mile race. I have till July 1st. All he has done to it is put a catback exhaust on it.

First you say this in the other thread

Then you say this

If this is a hobby why did you pick a late model civic, especially an R18?

Somethings you are saying don't add up, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

For starters you will need to run some serious boost to even think about entertaining that bet and I definitely recommend you getting some really good internals because piggy back tuning is your ONLY option currently.

Since you have the money for anything you will need it because forged internals will be custom 1 off because no one has off the shelf units. Additionally, good tuning isn;t cheap either and with a piggy back unit attention to detail will have to be even more adhered to. I recommend a water mist injection kit to reduce the potential chance for detonation and an intercooler sprayer kit as well.

If it was me I'd dump the paid-in-full R18 and get an 00 Si with a K swap, less money, more power, more parts, better looks.

Best of luck!

Thanks but like I said before, i can't sell my car. I may end up doing that after the race just to continue my hobby but the race is with my r18. I will prolly end up getting an integra and throwing a k20 in that. I know that the late model r18 was not the best choice of car to mod out. It was a graduation gift from my parents. They do not know anything about cars. They thought it was a good car to get me from point a to point b. I am just getting into moding out cars and Honda is what i am into right now. I didn't mean to confuse you or come off as an ******* in any way. Thanks for the info.

my advice would be to drop the most of the money on everything but the motor. make it look clean and handle right and you will probably have just as much fun as a really fast car

my only performance mod is a 85$ AEM cold air intake. got lucky and bought it brand new from an HT member

other mods are as follows:

gold Enkei RPF1 17x8 wrapped in yoko S Drive (about) 2000$
Buddy Club N+ Coilovers 1080$
skunk2 rear camber arms 265$
SPC front bolts 10$
XENTEC HID kit 140$
yellow DRLs 40$
yellow Fogs 120$
Weathertech Window visors 110$
megan racing tie bars 80$
drilled and slotted front rotors 75$

audio:

Pioneer PDH5000 headunit
2 JL Audio 10w3 subwoofers
JL Audio 500/1 monoblock
Performance Technique 320/4 4 channel
MB Quart component front speakers
Kicker Coaxials rear speakers
Capasitor
Optimo Yellow Top

- appx 2000$

just some ideas for you if you want to change your modding plans. plus if your in CA with the mods you have you'd get your hoodpopped everyday. kidnkorner has a point also. i wouldnt trust our motor turbo'd. and this is MY only means of transportation so i cant risk any major potential problems.

i for one enjoy driving my snail because if handles beautifuly, and my system makes it even more enjoyable. plus i know if my car were to go any faster it would land me some trouble.

if you really had a need for speed, wait for your k20 teg.

I got the upgraded stereo system from the dealer when I got the car. The one that has the Nav system. I put in 2 12" Infinity dual voice coil subs. I love them.

its too correct your tires from "cambering" which are commonly to tilt diagonal after a drop
SPC front bolts 10$ What do these do? sort of the same as a rear camber kit but they are just bolts and are for the front
XENTEC HID kit 140$ I have this
yellow DRLs 40$ What are these Daytime Running Light bulbs
yellow Fogs 120$ I know what these are
Weathertech Window visors 110$
megan racing tie bars 80$ What are these? bars you put underneath your car to improve handling

At least you're learning before you go out and spend more cash on your car.

Throttle body spacer for R18? I don't think it exists or you have Si on the brain. 5hp on a stock motor, no gain on a car that already has intake mods.

You can't go faster without addressing your brakes. At the very least you should get OEM Brembo replacements, Hawk HP pads and braided stainless brake lines.

Just a piece of advice...it doesn't matter how fast you go if you can't stop.
