These Pics are from a b16a with Toda pistons. This motor was built over 2 yrs ago. Last year I finally started it. It was in a rex with obd1 conversion with the obd0 injectors. It ran fine for about 2 weeks. I had never drove it cause the car wasn't ready and that it would have not been tuned properly. The all of a sudden it wouldn't start anymore . So there it sat for a year more. It was throwing a inj code so I converted it to obd1 inj. I also went and bought a new p28 ecu and dizzy(td-44). This time it was throwing the code for the crank angle sensor. that was the dizzy so I bought another new one same thing so there it goes sitting all over again. well I decided to sell the shell but kept the b16. I took it apart and it looks like the #2 cyl is firing just fine but the rest no good. It all looks like just old fuel from were it was sitting so I think it wasn't firing on those cyls. The only thing I am concerned about are the rust spots in the pics. The black stuf on the pistons rubs off with my fingers. And the black stuff on the top of the cyls is in an area were the rings do not touch. Can any one give me some insight on what they think about this I know I can still use this block and setup. To me it looks like that it wasn't firing correctly. Any info is cool thank you Richard
Sorry I can't help you but don't you notice how out of focus your pictures are?
Use the macro setting for close-ups. Maybe read the manual that came with the camera.

Looks like #2 was fring really rich. There isnt even a carbon ring at the top of the cylinder. Other than that they look alright. How many miles are on it?
I agree. To me it actually looks like your #2 cylinder wasn't even getting fuel. Thats what my H22 looked like when I was having the same problem. The other cylinders look great except for the rust from it sitting for so long.
That could also be the case. It sure is one clean piston. Now that i think about it i dont know if there is even a way it could run rich enough to leave a piston that clean. Your probably right that it wasnt firing at all. A little bit of scotch brite will clean that rust right up.

If its going to sit like that for some time you should put a light coat of oil on the cylinder walls so they wont rust. Just make sure you wipe it nice and clean before assmbly.
