code 9 cylinder position sensor
i have a 1995 civic ex with an obd1 b18c1 in it. the motor has DC headers and a skunk2 intake manifold with a short ram intake. I sent my ecu out to get it chipped by phearable.net, i finished the swap yesterday car runs good... idles a little high at 900rpms burns a little oil, vtec kicks in perfectly but i have a code 9 and dont know what to do. also when i shift from 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to rd the car jumps as if it was gonna stall.... don't know what that is! any ideas? and i already tested the terminals on the distributor as the manual says and its perfect so i have no other ideas...

yeah man mine was 450 its withing specs! but i dont understand why. timing is perfect, idle is ok, and thats the only code! i need helpppp hopefully we can figure it out man!
Try another distributor, i've seen them throw CYL and CKP (I don't think i've ever seen the TDC sensor fail) codes and still run fine, code goes away when distributor is replaced. If that doesn't fix it start checking your wiring, and if that still doesn't solve the problem borrow another ECU.

ya well it is in the dizzy n i have seen new parts right out of the box be bad so id try a diff dizzy n make sure you time it wit a timming light that might help ur idleing problem its probaly advanced to much
deff just called my friend and he said he'll let me borrow his! tomorrow we'll c! i can't borrow another ecu because it'll run like sh*t since im running a skunk2 manifold... i'll just try the dizzy and i'll let you guys know! hopefully that will do it! and how to you reset the ecu? do i just pull out the 7.5a fuse out of the box for 10 secs with the engine off?
This has happened to me twice. The first time a few months ago. Check your wiring at the distributor plugs. The male side should have the pins sticking out at the same length and the female side should all be the same, mine came loose and plugging them in really good fixed it. The second time was this week and the wires weren't the problem. This time it was the screw that holds the rotor in backed out and fubar'd my dizzy internals...I love having my scan tool, it makes resetting the ecu so much easier!




wow man that distributor got ruined. just got home from putting its first 100 miles... it runs good vtec is good too but like i said between 1500rpm and 2500 every gear i shift to the car stumbles once... if i shift on higher rpms its fine. i'm clueless!
this problem really pissed me off so today i actually dedicated a couple of minutes to diagnose it. The problem was the distributor O ring. Oil leaked everywhere inside the distributor shorting the cylinder position sensor off. The connectors were all corroded. swapped distributor, erase the code and booom.... runs perfect now! no more stumble or anything. I do have a fluctuating idle which is intermittent but thats something else!
