Icon6 hypothetical dart tall block build

Ok, I'm looking at doing a serious build sometime in the near future, and I've been looking at the dart blocks. there is a dart tall block thats 13.61mm taller. Eagle makes a stroker kit for the b18/20 with a 95 mm stroke vs. the stock b18c1 stroke of 87.2 . Thats a difference of 7.8mm(/2 for deck height) so with the stock rods and pistons in the car instead of the rods that come with the stroke kit, I'd still be coming up 9.71mm short of the stock piston to deck height of .74mm. To get it perfect I would need a rod thats that much longer than stock, which would be 147.6ish mm's. but i can't find anyone who offers a stock spec rod with that length, but I see posts of people doing the stroke kit with the tall block. and keeping about the same rod ratio of a gsr. With this setup its about .03 difference between stock gsr and this. but nowhere can i find this rod length. Ive put alot of math into the specs. of a lot of different manufacturers to try and piece a kit together that would work, and so far i have everything but the rods. Also I've seen people posting about it being a 2.2 liter but it really comes up to 2131 with the 84.5mm bore that dart offers. is there something that I'm missing, or are people just exaggerating on their displacement. Any imput would be nice, and if you need more specs, i can save you from searching because ive got about as much as you can for these things. Im gonna see if i can scan my notes and put them on here

Ok i'm confused because both Eagle and Crower have these kits, but your saying your not happy with there rod lengths offered? Or are you not able to find the full "kit" ie. Crank & Rods?

Eagle

Crower
http://www.crower.com/cat/import/hon.../stroker.shtml

Edit: Nevermind, it clicked. You need different rod lengths than whats offered to make up the clearance because of the tallerdeck. Sorry

Alright, heres the closest thing I could find. There Eagle rods 5.862"/148.89mm

http://www.import-racer.com/sku/CRS5862A3D

Now if you do the math (95mm stroke/2 +148.89mm rod + 30mm avarage piston comp height)= 226.39mm which would make the combo .39mm "out of the hole", but otherwise ok. Just use a thick gasket to gain more piston to valve clearance.

sick awesome. im pretty sure that arias could make pistons with a bit shorter comp height to compensate. which would also make the rod length ratio even better
at 29 mm comp height it would be a 1.57 ratio and still have some decent deck clearance

No havent really looked into it although I have pondered the idea of doing this in the past, but didnt realize the slight inconsistency's with the deck height vs the majority of availible aftermarket rods.

A custom spec compression height might be pricey but would make for a sound build, unless theres a closer rod match for this combo to allow you to have the piston sit below the deck like most.

I've got to have a positive deck clearance to make it safe. i dont want to change the head. i like the combustion chamber of the b18c1. id have to see which is cheaper custom rods or custom pistons. either way it doesnt make alot of difference. wiseco makes a piston that would work perfect and give 11:1 cr if i could find the right rod. im thinking this would be an excellent build without being nasty expensive. i already have the head, the block is roughly 2600, and the crank is only 670 and the pistons are 500 so as long as the rods are less than a grand its a 4200-4700 dollar build for a 2.1 vtec b series with gsr rod length ratio and 11:1 cr that will be forged and ready for forced induction on a level higher than what a 11:1 b18/b20 could handle without structural reenforcement

I would go with the custom order pistons, but if its cheaper you can get custom rods with Pauter http://www.racetep.com/pauterhonda.html

im kind of weary of that rod design. theres gotta be a reason that design hasnt made it mainstream. why hasn't anyone done this before. or is the rod length issue the reason

I kinda like the design, IDK perhaps this design comes out heavier then most H-beam or I-beam rods because at a glance they look pretty stout. The cost of each custom rod is pretty high though, I have a feeling you would come out cheaper with the custom pistons maybe.

yea i like eagle rods. i had a set and still do and they were awesome. so if i could find the pistons id like to do it that way for simplicity's sake. i know arias makes some good custom pistons. do you know of anyone else and every order form ive seen they want all the specs. id like to just be able to tell them that its a -3cc dish with 29 comp height 84.5 mm bore with stock everything else

I've never ordered custom pistons before but always thought it would be kind of cool if I ever had to in a custom application much like yours. JE, Wiseco, and others have a custom order form too, but I'm sure they all need very specific details to blue print a design.

Try posting this in the All Motor forum, you'll probably get alot more feedback from others there.
