Default Stripped nut on trailing arm

I stripped the nut that is tack welded onto the trailing arm. It's the one that connects to the lower control arm. Right now, I am running a longer bolt, and have a flanged nut on top of the original nut. Is there a better solution? How much would it cost to cut off that nut and weld on another one?

I had something similiar happen to me. The bolt and nut had completely rusted together. Anyway I just cut the tack welds to remove the nut and just used a nylon locking nut. No problem.
