VTEC motors smoke? GSR stupid question.
No not all vtec smoke, something isnt right can be many things, try leakdown test or compression to rule that out any strong honda engine usually has 215-250 compression.
But if u have emission system problems like me ur car will smoke a little? Check Pcv valve, also and make sure the 02 sensor is working to get a STOICH reading ull need an air/fuel gauge for that?? start there....

Does the car burn any oil? Or burn through coolant? How many miles are on the engine?
If it uses oil it may be worn valve seals causing the smoke when they are stressed under vtec... a sign of bad valve seals is also smoking when you first start it up when its cold out.. but if its burning oil it can also be other things like piston rings etc.
If it burns coolant then chances are its a head gasket..
But like said before you should do a compression and leakdown test first to help you narrow it down

yeah i havent put coolant in the car for like a 1yr now! and last i remember the last time i check compression was like 245 whole way across. the millage is 156k original miles. and it does smoke when i first start it up. how hard would the valve seals be to replace.

well you'd need a valve spring compressor, and you would need to take the head off the engine, or have a compressor to put pressure into the cylinder your working on while the head is in the car... and you would need to do a valve adjustment afterwards
you have done a compression test and no signs of problems were noticed your next step before ANY,ANY work done should be a leakdown test.
you can pull good numbers with a compression tester but as you mentioned your self your leakage only happens when the engine is stressed.
a leakdown will show exactly where and how bad the leak is!
same thing happened to me and mine too turned out to be the seals, though my seals were leaking soo bad under stress that they were causing a missfire which also caused bogging along with smoking at high rpms!

are you sure it's not because it's cold out & your just burning the water out of your exhaust? if you drive for 30 minutes does it go away? running cold really does not sound like water/combustion entry. smoking in vtec is often a rich car or worn out rings. but, that's black/blue smoke
