hi whats up evey one im thinkin about buy a 99civic hx thats all stock except it has an exhaust and a test pipe on it and its got a check light is the checklight casued by the test pipe??? and no i did not get any codes thats just wat i saw and im lookin for inforamtion if it could cause it.. PLEASE HELP ...

 

Yes the CEL is caused by the test pipe. 96 and up vehicles are OBDII and without a catalytic converter, the ECU reads that the exhaust gasses are too dirty thus throwing a CEL.

 

it could be several things/several codes, too. i'm sure the test pipe is throwing a code, but an hx is a little different than the other civics... is it a 5-speed or auto/cvt? it could have an expensive 5-wire wideband O2 sensor thats gone bad, that the currnet owner doesn't want to replace.

 

its 5spd and yeah thats what i thought they are 400 bux i think im goin to pass cuz when i drove it clutch seemed kinda crapy and its not that hard to change just gona be another 200 bux on top of the 400 doller o2 and 400+ doller cat ..... thanks..
