Icon3 Idle problem ?

Hmm, hey guys !

I noticed that when I turn my car on, the idle is at 2,000 RPM ( which sounds insane even though it's -20C outside ). After a minute or so it goes down to 1,500, which I still believe is very high. Any pointers as to what I should do ?

Thanks,

Do a search and see if someone has already posted this kind of problem and look at some of those reply's. I have reply'd to atleast 10 this year with this problem. It's almost always the IACV (idle air control valve). It's located on the back of the intake manifold. Just take it off and if its dirty spray it out with brake parts cleaner, let it dry, then reinstall.

when the temp gauge shows the car is getting warmer does the idle drop? if not sounds like a small vacuum leak possibly

Yeah the idle drops with the temperature rising. Why ?

thats normal. the car is at "high idle" as an attempt to become warm quicker.

What should be the normal idle then, once it's warmed up ?

Woah ! I'm at 1,500! I'll double-check to make sure I'm not hallucinating from those mushrooms I took during high school.

Thanks guys,

Even my em1 ran at about 1800 upon warm up but it dropped pretty rapidly after a couple minutes. That was in -30c but once it was warmed up it idled between 700-800. It very well could be a vacuum leak but check the iacv also.

Checked, everything seems to be fine once the temperature is normal. Thanks again. I just freaked out right away.
