Hey, in the process of reviving my car....just picked up a aftermarket radiator fan off the internet and i want to make it a push fan....do i just flip the blades around or do i have to do that and flip the two wires too?

Some fans are actually reversible just by flipping the two wires... I know most staight blade fans do not need their blades flipped around and all you need is wire them with opposite polarity.

pushers are mounted on the other side of the fan. and have to have polarity reversed so they spin the other way.

Hook it up to a battery, and reverse wires if needed

I thought a pusher is for those who cannot fit a puller fan, due to a topmount, 4" DP, etc...?

If you can fit a puller already on the inside of the radiator (engine side), then there is no point for a pusher on the outside of the rad (bumper side). You don't run two fans on one radiator with the same given space...hah Your above post didn't make much sense to me at least

i wasnt telling him to run 2 fans I sais run a good fan then you don't need a pusher. The Op-never stated he didn't have room. then still in that case i would rather buy the 13in spal pusher. Most people try to make a pusher fan becuase the fan they currently have sucks and can't keep up vs needing it becuase they don't have the room.

A puller fan will always flow more air threw a radiator or condensor.

Watch when you start it up your fingers are out of the way

Pusher will always be a last resort, and I think the only reason why we go with a pusher is from the lack of room to run a proper puller setup.

I assumed the OP asked for a pusher, probably because he couldn't fit a puller at the engine side of the radiator.

Its not that it flows more air, it just has a better distributed pressure drop over the fins. That all areas to be cooled equally, which increases efficiency. But it doesn't matter much since it has no shroud, and all of 1/4" between the fins and radiator.

The only OEM fans you'll see as pushers are when they have big space issues. The old Probe I got for free had all sorts of useless crap under the hood (I think they called it a Mazda engine ), and the AC condenser was on the front.

i needed a pusher fan due to space constraints, so i bought the BIGGEST i could fit. it actually couldnt fit, and i had to mod the crossmember to fit it. it cools fine, but smaller fans probably wouldnt do it.

get the biggest pusher you can if you need one.

All my cars have pushers just because I wanted to tuck the fan. I noticed no change in temps afterwards.

Yeah me and my buddy were trying to flip the blades around on a spal fan but the blades design put it to close to the rad or condensor. On a hand test i pulled the power away and i think my friend thought the blade was going to opposite ways and try to stop the blades. Well all i heard was a wack and him go UH OH lol. 13 stitches later lol.

Yeah i find the best pusher on a honda rad was a Flex alite fan the 125 series with the shroud the sizes of the rad. If you use one of those cheap fans in front zip tied on i find the fan is on for alonger period and in canada we do not get the honda days you guys get in the usa.

Are all you guys who run the 13" Spal fan talking about this one:

http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/..._Code=30102044

and how is it without a shroud, any cooling problems?

and to the OP if you want to test your fan just run your wires to the battery to see which way it spins. Some fans you can just reverse the polarity to get the motor to spin the opposite way (the current flows in the opposite direction) but check the blade design out before you do this to ensure that it will actually push air effectively.

yup thats the one. i do not use a shroud and have not had any issues. it turns on at 185 and i havent seen ECTs go higher than that. ive only had the car out in 65* weather so the real test will come this summer when we get some 90* days. if i do have issues im going to try a turbo blanket and fan shroud.

So i went with the puller... heres a pic to show how much extra room it gave me...enough to finally put on a intake on my turbo...
