Icon2 How soon should i get it tuned???

Okay so i finally have all the peices to my Turbo kit and i really want to put it on but i don't have the money to get it tuned right now. I have my ECU Chipped and socketed All i have to do is throw in my base map. My tuner set me up with Easy tune i think it is? instead of chrome. Now my question is.. How long can i ride around with it like that? I really don't wanna mess my car up or antyhing... And i don't wanna get really crappy gas milage.. Should i just wait till i get the money or is it safe for acouple weeks until i get the cash to get it dyno tuned? Thanks in Advance.

Well my tuner at TPR did it, He kept my stock chip in there and all i have to do when i'm ready is twist 2 solder wires together and that kicks in my base map for my turbo set up. I was rather amazed by that btw. Anyways so.. you would or wouldn't suggest installing untill i have the cash?

Is your motor built for boost? Or is it just a pieced together turbo? If your motor is built for it I would wait for the tune. Running the wrong amounts of fuel on a break can royally f your pistons in the a with a d if ya know what I mean. =P If its just a slap on turbo, go ahead and slap it on, but I would stay out of boost until you get it tuned

you can ride it like that. my friend has a 94 eg hatch with a turbo and its not tuned. he has had it for a while and it runs good. but it will run better with a tune.

I mean i haven't messed with the pistons if that what your asking, The head and block is stock... And lol i prolly couldn't stay out of boost.. Damnit i'm just really excited lol. My Base map is set up for the RPMs to cut off at 3500... That would prolly help me stay out of boost.

EDIT: not true. alot of ppl run their turbo with out a proper tune and with out upgraded injectors and fuel pump. so you are wrong sir.
but if a lot of air/fuel mixture leaves the chamber without being burned at all, then it can cause problems to you valves and o2 sensors. NOT your pistons

^^^^ yup. stock rods can handle 225whp. but 225+whp is pushing the envelope.
anything more than 230whp on a stock engine is just stuipid and your asking for a rod to break and possibly make a hole through your cylinder.
