i just built a type r motor then a week later spun a rod bearing. first motor ever built. now ive been debating on what to build. the R's head is still chill {ported, rev valves, crower cams}and the block {all oem type r}might have to go with oversized pistons not sure yet and the crank is toast.

i ve been reading a bit about ls rods and crank in type r block but if i have to go with oversized pistons in the C5 then i might buy ls block and go ls vtec {more info on ls rods n crank welcome}

im going b series but some opinions on what to do or past experience on ls vtec or rods n crank n C5 let me know.

money is an issue but still through ideas out

if you just built the motor? then just change the damn rod bearing.
