why do my rpms hang at 3k on my prelude ~ then drop normal to idle
95 H22a civic
I just put the Cylinder head back on after having the seats ground to spec.
example : I press the throttle quickly raising the rpms to 3500 then it slowly comes down from 3500 to umm 2000 then drops normally to idle. I checked the throttle cable and pulley and its all good. So?

bump ~ When I press the throttle quick I have a quick hesitation. Rpms drop about 100 rpms then rise to 3500 and it takes its time coming down to 2k then drops normally. so?

hmm ya my coolant lvl is staying right at the top. I have allready relieved the air at the top of the thermostat also.
try cleaning your iacv to see if gets better! is the throttle cable sticking? a friend of mine had a similar problem with his car and it ended up being a dirty throttle cable.
I have cleaned the idle valve. I have taken the throttle cable off and pushed the pulley alone and I still have the problem.
another symptom is : when I start the car the rpms immedietly jump to 2k then drop to normal idle.

SOLVED : I am not using any smog devices right now. So I have most of my vacuum lines plugged. I plugged the air boost valve by sticking a hose to it and connecting the other end to one of the intake manifold ports. I figure hey its all vacuum so whatever. But that was my problem for the rpm hanging around 3500 and slowly dropping to 2500 then dropping normally from there.
