Yep, another one of them kick someone in the nuts situations.

Second thing you need to do is pull the HU and inspect the stock radio harness and see what was done with the red/black lead, [red wire with black tracer] it is the stock HUs illumination lead it is "hot" when the park or head lights are on.

If the red/black illumination lead is not being used for the Sony HU, [Sony HU harness has to have an orange or orange/white lead on it] it must be properly caped off.

Care must also be taken when connecting the Sony HUs harness to the stock radio harness, best way would have been solder and heat shrink, next best would be red "butt" connectors, the "twist together and tape" method is a poor way to do it, although if done properly it could be used, but not recommended.

Care must also be taken that the radio harness, [stock or Sony] is not getting "pinched" when HU is "slid' into place.

Once you have confirmed, [or fixed] the radio harness and connections are good and unused leads are properly caped off, recheck the dash light fuse, replace it even if it looks good.

Lets hope it is nothing more serious then a minor short.

Let me know what you find. 94

"a lot of wires left cut"???
Are you saying you have lots of unused leads in the radio harness?
