I got a new car this week a 93 hatch winter car and the cluster lights dont light up, all the gauges work and the indication lights all work just no back lighting, i checked all the fuses, checked voltage on the pinouts, i checked the bulbs, even lokked at the dimmer wiring all seems to be ok please some help me out with any thoughts

Double check 10A fuse #19 under the dash. If it's fine, pry the dimmer switch out of the dash, unplug the connector, and then install a jumper wire into the connector such that the red and black wires are connected. If the dash lights now turn on, then replace the dimmer switch.

ok so to verify your saying connect the red and black wires from the dimmer together and leave the red/black wire untouched

Yes. Use a jumper wire rather than cut and splice.

so i did it and it worked thanks alot and dont worry i didnt cut it and i know a guy parting out another civic thanks alot saved me some headaches
