just wondering what you guys think. i know its only 110v but im lookin to just weld patch panels and lil **** right now. it says it can weld up to 3/16 thick, but i seen someone weld in a rollcage with it, so what do you thinks the thickest i could go on it?

I would buy a lincoln or miller 110v mig. It will be easier to find parts for. I would absolutely NEVER weld a roll cage with a 110v mig in any circumstances.

list is kinda high but you can find them on ebay for quite a bit less.

it's a rebadged clarke welder, which is an okay brand. Save money and get the Clarke brand. I would suggest getting a 220v welder though.

for a small fee you can rent a 120vac mig welder from home depot. that way you wont waste too much money figuring out how crappy 120vac wire welders really are.
Another vote for save a bit and go 220v. In the end, you're going to get so frustrated with the 110v machine, it just doesn't have the ***** to do any real work. And on top of that, it's hard to learn on IMO. Because it has no power, it's difficult to learn how to set your wire speed etc ... I had soooooooo much trouble with my 110v welder, and it was a Lincoln. I tried very hard to learn to MIG on it and got nowhere. When I first tried a real MIG, it was a whole new world and I got the hang of it in minutes.

I agree that a 220 MIG is the best ( I use a Miller 350 every day) but I really like my 110v Lincoln sp135. It welds very nicely and could be used for at least 3/4 of your general automotive fabrication and repair...but don't buy that sears one
