Default 00' Si + frustration

Ok, well I got "out of the car scene" a few years ago, but I seem to find myself right back in this mess. Here's the problem:

I purchased a bone stock 00' Si from a local Acura dealership and opted out of the warranty a little less than a year ago. After speaking with the dealer and looking at the "parts replaced" list, I took the risk. The vehicle was a 1 owner, VERY well maintained vehicle with near perfect interior/exterior. Anyways, I had been burning oil for 6+months now and it has been progressively getting worse. I decided to take the car into the dealership I had purchased it from originally.

The news: The motor needs to be rebuilt. Est. cost is over 3K.

I spoke with the guy about the motor and explained that a technician would/should have seen this coming before selling an Acura "certified" vehicle to a customer. He said there were no notes indicating any signs of wear.

So, my question is this: Do I have any leverage on having the dealership cover even half of the charges? I know there isn't a 1 yr warranty, but this is ridiculous. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Pics

i so love em1s.
i dunno about leverage that thing could have a sohc and i would rock it. what did they exactly say was wrong with it. i couldn't imagine anything that would cost 3k to fix that you wouldn't of heard going wrong in the engine. is it consuming water too?

An entire swap would cost you less than 3K.

OP, if the dealership wont cover your cost's then ur only choice is to get a new swap (B18C1, B18C). Take the car into a honda certified tech to look at. I dont mean for you to take it to a dealership but a private owned shop.

How much did you get the car for?

Talk to the service manager nicely and explain your problem. Iff he can't to nothing get ahold of the contract thet you signed and look it over. You should have it covered under their certifief program. and if all else fails contact the better business burue (sp).

Thanks. It was 11.5k on the lot, I bought it from a guy I new there and got it for 8k out the door.

After talking to a few shops and a buddy of mine (who has done my work in the past), I'm going to buy a long block and swap. My buddy will perform all of the work, so labor will be close to free.

Any suggestions on where to buy? I have always shopped hmotorsonline, but damn I was looking for a GSR block for around 1K.

Thanks again for the responses and she will be "rebuilt" one way or another. ;-)
