what is the largest rim i could fit on my 97 del sol
could i see some 16X8 wheels on civics or del sol would be better pictures guys
like XXR 513, or (ROTA RB) wheels old school Wide lip rims
+4 offset on 8 inch wide and +20 offset on 7 inch wide
could i fit 8s or not?

 

I'd say 16" are best.

 

dont go bigger than 16. Then it starts to look ricer.

I had Volk 16x7s on my LX sedan with factory style shocks and no problems.

 

you can fit anything you want with camber and rolled fenders

 

i dont want to be buying tires every 2 months
i want a nice tire tuck and ride and no rubbing

 

16x7 and i don't know about the offset, you're gonna have to look that one up.

with a +40mm offset you will probably rub the inside of the wheelwell on really right U-turns. avoid tight U-turns and it'll be fine... well, you may need to roll the fenders if you're lowered.

Another thing is, if you're lowered (this applies to all wheel sizes, unless your overall wheel/tire size is smaller than stock), inside the top of the wheelwell is a wide metal tab sticking down. It will cut chunks out of your tires if you don't bend the tab to the side and out of the way with a hammer.

 

16;s arent bad. But you will have issues with them as trustdestruction said.

 

8 is gonna be way too wide. my 7's are just right. not that 8's WON't work, but I definitly wouldn't risk that because it would be REALLY close, and if your lowered probably wont work at all.

and definitely never ever go bigger than 16 on a del sol. 15's with 205/50's are perfect on mine, even better if it was lowered.

i think small rims like 15's are STR8 OUT RICER!
not to mention the fact that they look UGLY AS F*** and gay as hell

What I think determines rice, whether it be any rim size (except 18"+, those are ALL ricey when they're on a 92-00 Civic) is the actual style of the rim. There are plenty of ricey 15", 16" and 17" rims out there, and plenty of good looking ones.

I used to have 17" rims and they looked pretty good and with my drop and front lip the rims didn't look too big really to me. However, the practicality of the 17" rim was non-existent. 205/40/17 tires don't provide enough sidewall to give a comfortable ride on aftermarket suspension, and make the rims more vulnerable to being bent when hitting a pothole. Also, the 17" tires are more expensive, the 17" wheels are more expensive, the wheels are usually heavier than smaller ones, and the rims are usually harder to fit in the wheel wells without modifications such as fender rolling.

If you want to deal with all of those cons, more power to you.

The only thing I really hate about the big wheels is when people claim they care about performance, but then go buy a heavy set of 17" rims and then choose their rims solely on looks, without taking into account the practicality of the rim.

I honestly think 15's are the best size to go with, i had 19's on my 96 coupe when i first bought it, ride was terrible. They rubbed on stock suspension. i had enough and went to 15's.

but i looked at all the details and i decided to keep my 17's since i will not drop my car 2 inches from the floor like i see many civics now a days.
just about 1.5 - 2.5 inches would be good
