Default equal lenght axle D series

I notice that the B series have equal length axle. Is there any possible way the D series can do this too.

I believe the DOHC ZC motor has equal length axles.

I don't think so.

the only hondas i've seen that have the same axles, had an intermediate shaft between the trans and driver side axle. You could maybe do it with some custom work.

Thats why I said the DOHC ZC motor. I believe it had a half-shaft.

What advantage would equal length shafts give you? I see half shafts as being another things to fail and more friction.

Equal length axles *limit* torque steer.

It did The transmission, axles and intermediate shaft aren't exactly common though, most guys use anything but the ZC tranny so they can get axles, some also use the ZC tranny with an Si final drive, again so they can use normal D-series axles.

Actually the differential is what determines which axles you'd use, but I know that's what you were getting at.

And to take things a bit further, if you really wanted to do this "conversion" you'd need the DOHC ZC specific axles (or equivalent but that'll lead into another debate/discussion about what REALLY works), the intermediate shaft, and the differential from the DOHC ZC specific transmission. If I'm not mistaken, the mounting point is already cast into the block for the intermediate shaft to be mounted but won't be threaded.

Here, just so you can visually see. This is a D16Z6 block. You can see the three mounting holes here right underneath the oil filter. They are there but with no threads.

And here is a DOHC ZC intermediate shaft mocked up. The only thing that I encountered is that the block needs to be notched a bit to clear the curved part of the bracket that is facing the block.

You are a great help. So from what I understand the half shalf only fit the zc diff.

I was going though some picture on my hard drive. And from the look of it the Civic 92-95 rtsi(awd) have equal lenght axle too.

Here's another thread that might have some useful information:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/dohc-zc-si-trans-wo-intermediate-shaft-2364057/

If you need any measurements, I can help you there too. I have a pair of normal D series axles and a ZC tranny as well as two Si transmissions, one cable and one hydro. All these parts are out of the car as I am replacing and dismantling a bunch of stuff.
