B16 tranny revving HIGH on the highway for a long time
Can this cause any harm to anything?
I had to drive 4 hrs round trip today in my Si. I was going around 70mph the whole way which put me at around 4000-4200 rpms. 2 hours one way, and 2 way back.
I absolutely hate revving that high but I was just keeping up with traffic. Is this bad for the motor??
Thanks

AND the GSR tranny has a lil bit longer gears so that comes before the LS.
btw swapping the 5th gear would be the best route i just didn't say that because i was aside myself with how well dasaboi helped out the OP.
go ahead and hit me with the hammer :/
dude... just because someone posts right after you do it doesn't mean that they are talking to you.
two times in a row you have done this to me... seriously its not a hard concept to understand, these internet forums and how they work. with how people converse with one another. slow down man thats all. seriously read before you post.
post slow homie, read the words and write slow homie.

dont even worry about it.. i got a 93 coupe with a b16a3 with a 00 si tranny.. ive had it in for a while and have no problems.. i just recently drove it from sacramento to my new place in LA it was about a 7 hour drive and i had no problems... it does get very annoying tho.. im used to cruising at like 80-90 in my other cars and now i sit on the freeway around 70-75 :/
93egSLEEPER is right, and many people do the ls 5th gear swapped. Some people here shouldnt be giving advice so much. That will save some revs and no it wont hurt it like it is

You do realize that people sometimes put a B16 tranny on say a LS or a b20...

regardless he is fine- I had a bone stock B20 with a B16 trans boosted, and would drive it on trips from SC to NY no problem while getting 33+mpg
